As per reports, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has extended the yellow warning for high temperatures to 16 districts of mainland Portugal, with warnings in effect Wednesday (23 September).
• The warning has been issued due to the persistence of elevated maximum temperatures.
• The yellow warning is scheduled to remain in effect until 1800 hours local time (1700 hours UTC) on Wednesday (23 September) in Bragança, Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Vila Real, Lisbon, Castelo Branco and Portalegre.
• In Setúbal, the yellow warning is scheduled to remain in effect until 1900 hours local time (1800 hours UTC) on Monday (21 September).
• In Porto, Santarém, Viana do Castelo, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga, the yellow warning is scheduled to remain in effect until 1800 hours local time (1700 hours UTC) on Tuesday (22 September).
• The IPMA forecasts maximum temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius across most of mainland Portugal.
