Tripoli Central proposes reduced operating hours for cafes and restaurants on Monday (24 August)

As per reports on Monday (24 August), the Tripoli Central Municipality proposed that cafes and restaurants cease operations at 2200 hours local time (2000 hours UTC) as part of a trial measure to reduce electricity consumption and pressure on the power network amid ongoing electricity supply disruptions.

• Reports indicate that the proposal was discussed during a meeting between municipal officials and representatives of the General Electricity Company of Libya regarding measures to improve electricity supply and network stability in Tripoli.
• Officials stated that the South Tripoli power plant is nearing completion and is expected to support the electricity grid once operational.
