The 4-week GSOC modernisation playbook
"Modernise the GSOC" usually dies as a two-year transformation program. It doesn't have to. Across 400+ deployments, the pattern that works is the opposite: one platform, four weeks, one team at a time.
Week 1 — Map what you protect
Skip the tooling debate and start with entities: offices, people, routes, vendors, in criticality tiers. This list — not the software — is the real foundation of a modern GSOC. Most teams finish their top-500 in three working days.
Week 2 — Tune the signal
Configure exposure thresholds per tier and route alerts by team. The goal of this week is subtraction: every alert that doesn't map to a decision gets its threshold raised.
Week 3 — Wire the response
Load your SOPs as escalation paths with named owners. Run one live drill: from simulated event to mass alert with confirmation tracking. The drill always finds the gap the diagram missed.
Week 4 — Go live and measure
Cut over, then baseline two numbers from day one: time-to-escalation and alert-to-confirmation rate. These are the metrics your leadership will actually fund against next year.
