As per reports, Romanian President Nicusor Dan nominated Liberal Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Siegfried Muresan as prime minister on Thursday (17 September), amid an ongoing political crisis and the absence of a defined parliamentary majority.

• Nominated Prime Minister, Siegfried Muresan is expected to form a cabinet before seeking a parliamentary vote of confidence.
• The nominee has 10 days to prepare a proposed cabinet before presenting it to Parliament for a confidence vote.
• Romania has been without a functioning government capable of taking full policy decisions for more than four months following the collapse of the previous government.
