As per reports, the National Popular Coordinator (CPN) and several community organisations have scheduled a protest march from Batey 2 to Batey 6 in the sugarcane area of the Barahona Sugar Mill on Sunday (30 August).
• Reports indicate that the march is scheduled to take place from 0900 hours local time (1300 hours UTC) to 1200 hours local time (1600 hours UTC).
• The demonstration is being organised to demand that the government intervene and compel the Central Sugar Consortium (CAC) to return agricultural lands allegedly taken from local farmers and provide compensation for destroyed crops.
