The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecast scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall across parts of Thailand on Thursday (17 September).
• Very heavy rainfall is forecast across Lampang, Phayao, Nan and Phrae in northern Thailand, and Nong Khai in northeastern Thailand.
• Heavy rainfall is forecast across multiple areas of northern, northeastern, central, eastern and southern Thailand, including the Bangkok Metropolitan Area. Thunderstorms are also forecast across the affected areas.
• Marine conditions are expected to remain affected by southwesterly winds. In the eastern waters, waves are forecast at around 2 metres, increasing to above 2 metres during thunderstorms. Along the southern east coast, waves are expected at around 1–2 metres, reaching around 2 metres offshore and above 2 metres during thunderstorms in some areas.
• In the Andaman Sea, conditions are anticipated to be higher from Phuket northwards, where southwesterly winds of 20–40 km/h and waves of 2–3 metres are forecast. Waves may exceed 3 metres during thunderstorms. From Krabi southwards, waves are expected at around 2 metres, increasing to above 2 metres during thunderstorms.
• Temperatures across the affected regions are forecast to range between 21–27 degrees Celsius (minimum) and 28–36 degrees Celsius (maximum).
